360° feedback - What does the data tell us on the second glance? New light on rater disagreement.
New research reveals that there is more to be discovered in 360° evaluations than what is widely known. The 360° feedback is widely popular since its results can help identify tipping points in order to accelerate development. Yet in practice, leaders often report that only few new insights are gained. Why is this? First, understanding the results is a skill not everybody masters. Second, new research reveals that there is more to be discovered in 360° evaluations than what i

Are functional/ technical experts the better leaders?
Some weeks ago I had summarized the findings of a recent study, showing that a (compared to the subordinates) younger boss can harm the team`s performance. Something to consider in the current trend of early talent development in terms of early promotion into line management I see in many companies. Now this: Another recent study (Artz, Goodall & Oswald, 2016) conducted in the US and UK with a sample size of 35000 randomly selected employees, published by Harvard Business Rev

Do we need velvet gloves to transform leaders into agile leaders?
Just stumbled over an article sharing observations of a "bottom-up change" in two hospitals (https://hbr.org/2019/02/how-to-orchestrate-change-from-the-bottom-up). One was successful, the other not so much. Why? Medical doctors are not good at #humility either. This is a rather sad example of how a #transformation succeeds. When colleagues (in this case medical assistants) where assisting doctors and trying to influence them to adopt to new ways with velvet gloves on, the cha

A year ago it was there (the book). What I´ve learned about Agile Leadership... September 2019
It has been a year ago today (September 2018) that I was able to hold the book in my hands. In 2016 the idea was born. There was so much uncertainty around when the topic #AgileLeadership was mentioned. Experienced HR professionals, leaders with many years on the job reacted even intimidated by that trend spilling out of Software Development, the Agile Manifesto gaining traction in Silicon Valley and beyond. I didn`t understand why. All you professionals leading people or sup
